Rebillia & InsureShield presents companies with the ability to offer their consumers a hassle-free, easy to use, shipping protection system, for both their one-time purchases and their recurring subscription orders.
How Does It Work?
When enabled in the Rebillia platform shipping settings, Rebillia will add an interactive shipping quote interface to your checkout page, where customers could learn about shipping protection, view their shipping protection quote, and decide whether they want to protect their shipment or not.
On subscription, customers will be able to easily toggle shipping protection on/off to update their preferences for their next recurring shipments.
Note! – Shipping protection is applied on the bag level. That means that all Rate Plans inside the same subscription bag are managed together, just like shipping address and payment method settings. You can not have some Rate Plans protected and some Rate Plans not protected. You will have to split them into separate subscription bags
Integration
To turn on Shipping protection, follow the these steps:
- In the Rebillia admin control panel click on “Settings” on the side bar menu.
- In Settings, go to the “Shipping” tab.
- Find the shipping protection card and click “Connect Now”.
- Agree to UPSC’s Terms & Conditions.
Now that shipping protection is turned on, we just need to select which sale channels you want to offer shipping protection on:
- Still in the “Shipping” tab of the “Settings” page, scroll down to find the active Shipping Protection card.
- Click on the equalizer button and select “Settings”.
- Toggle on the sale channel(s) you want to have Shipping Protection on.
Note! – Rebillia will generate a product in your store’s catalog for shipping protection purposes. Please do not remove this item, otherwise Rebillia could not properly apply shipping protection to the customers’ purchases
Last step is to decide whether you want to allow your subscribers to manage their shipping protection status or not. If you do want to allow customers to freely toggle shipping protection on/off on their already existing subscriptions, make sure to enable this permission in the sale channel’s settings, as follows:
- In the main navigation side bar, select “Sales Channel”.
- Manage the platform your store is on.
- Click the equalizer button inside the store’s card and select “Settings” from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to the “Customer Access” section.
- Under the “Subscription Bags” group, check the “Allow Toggle Shipping Protection” item.
Customer Management
As a company staff member, you can also manage a customer’s shipping protection status on a subscription:
- Go to “Accounts”, find the customer and go into their profile.
- In the “Subscription Bags” tab, select the subscription bag you want to manage.
- Go to the “Shipping” tab.
- Add/remove shipping protection to this subscription bag.
Shipping Protection FAQs
Q. What is shipping protection?
A. Shipping protection protects your shipments against losses like damages, porch-piracy, and lost items. When you file valid claims, your business can be reimbursed, mitigating shipping risk. While carriers only offer declared value coverage, which is only the bare minimum required by law, the InsureShield Program does so much more.

Excess liability is coverage excess-value coverage (i.e., more than the carrier’s standard liability), up to the cost of the shipment.
- With carrier liability, the shipper is the one who must prove that the loss or damage happened while the goods were in the carrier’s physical control – this is most often very difficult to do, and time consuming! However, shipping protection can be customized to your business and protect you in the event of loss, damage, and porch piracy.
- Carrier liability is also based on small-print terms and a web of governing statutes, some of which date to the 1930’s. At their core, all the statutes allow carriers to limit their exposure and exempt a variety of situations from liability.
